There are several electric vehicle-specific fees electric vehicle owners will need to pay:

  • Annual Registration Fee: This fee will be adjusted annually for inflation – view the most current fee here.
  • Road Usage Fee: This fee varies slightly if you have a battery electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid. The rates until 2032 are already determined. View the most current fee here.
  • Electric Vehicle License Plate or Decal: Electric vehicle drivers in Colorado are required to have a license plate identifying the car as an electric vehicle. If drivers want a different license plate, then they must purchase a decal for the windshield. Currently, the license plate costs $10.03 and the electric vehicle decal costs $0.25.
