Adoption

Children in need of adoption, often over eight years old or part of sibling groups, are waiting for a loving, permanent family. Adoption through foster care begins by becoming a certified foster parent. We seek adoptive parents for children unable to return to their birth families, with support provided throughout the process by Adams County Human Services.

Foster Care

Foster care is a temporary living arrangement for children whose parents cannot care for them and whose needs for care have been identified by the child welfare system. Children are placed in out-of-home settings until they can be reunified with their parents, or a relative, guardian, or adoptive family steps in. While adoption through foster care is possible, the primary goal is reunification with the family. If reunification isn’t possible and no suitable kinship placement is found, foster families may be asked to adopt and become the permanent family.
