Park Ranger Services

Adams County is graced with expanses of natural beauty in the form of miles of trails meandering through acres of open space, interspersed with lakes and small bodies of clear water, all providing for an abundance of fish and wildlife. Numerous parks are designated throughout the county, providing opportunities for family enjoyment and recreation. The beauty of being surrounded by nature and the outdoors in these places provides great enjoyment to the residents of Adams County year-round. The Park Ranger Service will promote stewardship and allow for the preservation and conservation of the county’s natural resources, all while providing for positive public relations through the highest quality customer service.

Background

Adams County Rangers are multi-faceted and diverse in their duties and obligations, with the primary responsibility of informing, educating, and protecting all those that visit the parks, trails, and open space areas, while at the same time, providing for the conservation and preservation of the county’s natural resources. Rangers maintain certifications in a wide variety of skills and expertise such as EMS, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Axon Taser Instructor, Certified Interpretive Guide, Leave No Trace Instructor, Crisis Intervention, Law Enforcement Driving Instructor, Remote Drone Pilot, and more.

What do the Adams County Rangers do?

  • Education and Outreach
    • Rangers offer a variety of outdoor education programming, ranging from field-based interpretive hikes to classroom-based lectures and presentations. Adams County Rangers are Certified Interpretive Guides, and Naturalists, which allows them to showcase the Parks, Open Space & Cultural Arts department and its properties through a unique lens.
  • Rules and Regulations Enforcement
    • Rangers are equipped with the skills, tools, and knowledge to enforce rules and regulations throughout Adams County Parks, Open Space & Cultural Arts properties for a wide variety of open space violations and issues.
  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
    • Adams County Rangers are trained first responders who maintain medical certifications as either EMR’s or EMT’s. This allows Rangers to render aid quickly and efficiently, providing pre-hospital care until local fire departments or ambulance services can arrive on scene.
  • Wildlife Response
    • Rangers routinely work with our partnering agencies to provide wildlife management response as well as responding to domestic pet issues throughout the system.
