Acquisition of Property
We are setting clear guidelines when the county must purchase land involving property owned by the elected officials, county employees and their relatives and requiring an independent third party to review and negotiate the transaction. View the resolution below.
The resolution passed on May 25, 2011 outlines the procedure for acquisition of real property from county elected officials, employees, or relatives of county elected officials or employees.

At a regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners for Adams County, Colorado,
held at the Administration Building in Brighton, Colorado on the 18th day of January, 2012 there
were present:

when the following proceedings, among others were held and done, to-wit:
RESOLUTION ADOPTING A STRATEGIC DIRECTION FOR ADAMS COUNTY,
INCORPORATING THE NEW MISSION, VISION, VALUES AND GOALS INTO THE
CULTURE AND FRAMEWORK OF ADAMS COUNTY GOVERNMENT
WHEREAS, the foundation of Adams County’s ability to provide good government to its citizens and
business community must come through the creation, adoption, and organizational incorporation of a
considered and meaningful statement of a countywide Mission, Vision, Values and Goals; and,
WHEREAS, during a series of strategic planning meetings in 2011, the elected officials of Adams County
met to discuss, reflect upon, internalize, and reach accord on statements of principles, standards and ideals
that direct the work they and their employees do every day for the taxpayers and residents of Adams
County; and,
WHEREAS, the result of these discussions are memorialized in the attached Adams County Mission,
Vision, Values and Goals statement, as foundational principles to direct the work, service and culture of
each and every elected official and department throughout the county; and,
WHEREAS, Adams County leadership recognizes that the adoption of a new statement of Mission,
Vision, Values and Goals will be nothing more than words on paper without an intense, comprehensive
and unified effort to incorporate its principles into the culture, behavior and work ethic of every elected
official, director and employee throughout the county; and,
WHEREAS, as part of this effort to wholly incorporate the Mission, Vision, Values and Goals elected
officials commit to participating in and supporting development of an organizational culture model for all
of Adams County government and its employees; and,
WHEREAS, organizational culture training and development will include, initially, a series of in-person
employee meetings commencing January 24, 2012, to introduce organizational culture concepts to each
and every Adams County employee; and,
WHEREAS, this series of comprehensive countywide meetings and training programs are intended to
communicate an organizational culture change and to give all county leadership and employees the tools
and training to effectively carry out the newly adopted Mission, Vision, Values and Goals.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners, County of Adams, State of Colorado, that the attached Mission, Vision, Values and Goals statement be hereby adopted as the
model and framework by which the county shall operate and adhere to in its service to the taxpayers and
residents of Adams County; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the newly adopted Mission, Vision, Values and Goals of Adams County shall be internalized and incorporated into the culture and principles of county government and the Open Adams framework through which each office and department shall serve its citizens.
