Legislative & Government Affairs

Government & Legislative Affairs serves as a strategic advisor and collaborative partner to the Board of County Commissioners, County Manager, Executive Management Team, and department directors. Our department’s role is to guide and support county leadership in navigating complex issues of regional, state, and national significance.
This includes:

  • Monitoring and influencing federal and state legislation, ensuring that emerging laws align with the county’s priorities and advocating for policies that benefit the community.
  • Providing insight on federal, state, and local regulatory changes, helping county leadership anticipate impacts and adjust accordingly to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Addressing cross-jurisdictional challenges, by working closely with local partners and agencies to shape coordinated, policy-driven solutions.
  • Strengthening intergovernmental relations with the county’s ten incorporated cities and towns, as well as with adjacent cities and counties, to foster regional collaboration and mutual advocacy.

Through these efforts, Government & Legislative Affairs ensures the county’s voice is heard and its interests are represented in all levels of government, while promoting coherent, informed public policy across a broad spectrum of community concerns.
