Filing an Appeal

  • Complete and sign the back of the Notice of Determination and submit it to the BOE by September 15.
  • We will be accepting petitions via hand delivery, mail, or email at cboe@adamscountyco.gov as long as they are submitted by Sept. 15 at 11:59 p.m. Petitions must be in PDF form and named as the Appeal Number found in the upper right-hand corner of the Notice of Determination. Each PDF file must contain only one Appeal Number. The petition may be rejected if it does not follow these requirements.
  • If you file a paper petition via mail or hand delivery, do not staple your petition; binder and paper clips are allowed. The petition may be rejected if it has been stapled.
  • You may choose to receive your notice of hearing and final decision letter via email only. If you wish to receive your notice of hearing and final decision letter by email only, you must write your email address in the space provided at the bottom of your petition.
  • Include the following with your petition (attach extra sheets if necessary):
    • Your estimate of the value of your property.
    • A copy of any documents or evidence that you plan to present at your hearing.
    • A Letter of Agency signed by you, if:
      • An agent is filing the Petition for you -OR-
        • You do not plan to be present at your hearing but will be represented by someone who is not an attorney at law licensed in the State of Colorado.
        • If you have already included a Letter of Agency with your appeal, you do not need to submit an additional one.
        • To submit a letter of agency, please fill out the Letter of Agency Form and email it to cboe@adamscountyco.gov or contact the BOE Coordinator at 720.523.6105. Letters of Agency must be received by the BOE Coordinator at least two days prior to the scheduled BOE hearing date.

FAXED COPIES OF APPEALS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.

PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR APPEAL IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING MANNERS:

  1. Email your appeal paperwork to cboe@adamscountyco.gov.

Petitions must be in PDF form and named as the Appeal Number found in the upper right hand corner of the Notice of Determination. Each PDF file may contain one Appeal Number. The maximum email message size that can be received by this email is 35 MB. The petition may be rejected if it does not follow these requirements.

*All tax agents must file BOE appeals via email.*

**ALL PETITONS SUBMITTED BY EMAIL MUST BE RECEIVED BY 11:59 PM ON SEPTEMBER 15. ANY APPEAL RECEIVED PAST THAT DATE AND TIME CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.**
